NEIGHBORHOOD GRANTS AVAILABLE
Deschutes County Rural Fire Protection District #2 offers grants to provide assistance to groups or individuals to encourage wildfire risk reduction within the boundaries of the fire district. The funds are administered by the DCRFPD #2 Board of Directors.
Examples of funded projects include: disposal fees; hauling and dumpster fees; volunteer expenses such as refreshments, transportation and food; mailing or advertising expenses to “get the word out”; and fuels modification costs.
“The creation and maintenance of defensible space is the primary focus of these grants,” states Tom Fay, manager for DCRFPD #2.

Other grants are available to individuals and community groups seeking funds for wildfire risk reduction on private and common lands. Contact Kate Lighthall at Project Wildfire for more information at 541-382-1675.
